An iPhone and iPad workflow for your video podcast

The Podcast in a Box app brings a supported recording session, synchronized camera feeds and multicamera editing into one iPhone/iPad workflow. It is designed to work with the PIAB hardware and compatible camera devices.

Keep the session together

A host iPhone or iPad controls the recording workflow. Additional compatible iPhones provide camera angles and record locally. After recording, the footage is brought to the host for editing.

The number of connected devices and the number of recorded angles are different specifications. Check the supported configuration before deciding which devices to use.

Let Automatic Multicam make a first cut

Automatic Multicam uses speaker activity to choose camera angles. It gives you a starting edit to review, rather than requiring every camera cut to be chosen from scratch. You can make manual choices where you want a different view.

Automatic Multicam is speaker-based. It is not an AI transcription, captioning, translation or filler-word-removal feature.

Make your own camera choices

Manual multicamera editing lets you choose the angle used in the finished recording. Review your conversation from beginning to end before exporting, especially around interruptions and moments when more than one person speaks.

Export the recording you need

Export the finished edit for the next step in your publishing process. Individual-feed export is part of the Pro workflow. The current build also supports exporting audio from a video recording session. A standalone audio-only editor is not part of the launch workflow.

Uploading to YouTube, Spotify or another destination is a separate publishing step through the platform or podcast host you choose.

App access with the Kickstarter kit

Kickstarter backers receive lifetime founding member app access under the campaign terms. Review those terms for the exact included features and activation details. Future premium features should not be assumed to be included unless the offer explicitly says so.

Built for the supported launch setup

The iOS app will be available at launch for iPhone and iPad. An Android app is planned for 2027. Recordings use internal device storage in the current workflow; direct recording to an external USB-C drive is not supported in the current build.

Remote-guest recording and external webcams are not part of the V1 setup. Before backing, check that your intended workflow fits the supported features.
